Oadby & Wigston Borough Council undertook a public consultation on the Regulation 18A Issues and Options Consultation Draft New Local Plan and the Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report for an eight week period between 12pm on Friday 3 September 2021 and 12pm on Friday 29 October 2021.

The borough council published the Local Plan Issues and Options (Regulation 18A) Statement of Consultation. This document sets out how the consultation in 2021 was undertaken and provides a summary of the main issues raised and explains how these issues will be addressed and how they have continued to inform the preparation of the emerging New Local Plan.

Consultation exhibitions – Autumn 2021

As part of the public consultation exercise for the Regulation 18A document, the Planning Policy team attended consultation exhibitions throughout the Borough. These exhibitions took place on the following dates and times:

  • Thursday 16 September 2021 - Wigston Leisure Centre, Wigston from 12pm - 3pm.
  • Friday 24 September 2021 - The Parade, Oadby from 10am - 1pm.
  • Wednesday 29 September 2021 - Blaby Road Park pavilion, South Wigston from 10am - 1pm.
  • Friday 8 October, 2021 -Bell Street, Wigston from 1pm - 4pm.
  • Tuesday 12 October 2021 - Parklands Leisure Centre, Oadby from 10am - 1pm.
  • Wednesday 13 October 2021 - South Leicestershire College, South Wigston from 10am - 1pm
  • Tuesday 19 October 2021 - Parklands Leisure Centre, Oadby from 5pm - 8pm.

Call for Sites

The council has undertaken two formal Call for Sites Public Consultations to date from 12pm on Friday 25 September 2020 until 12pm on Friday 20 November 2020, as well as alongside the Regulation 18A Public Consultation on the emerging new Local Plan Issues and Options Draft from 12pm on Friday 3 September 2021 to 12pm on Friday 29 October 2021. These exercises were undertaken to understand what land interests there are in the borough for potential housing, employment, retail or other development uses from 2031 onwards.
