Overview
Oadby and Wigston Borough council are looking for an experienced, ambitious and passionate IT professional to take up a role of IT Team Manager. At the heart of Oadby and Wigston’s delivery of its high quality services, and its role in improving the quality of life for residents, lies accurate and accessible information, supported by excellent information and communications technology. The IT Team Manager is responsible for providing professional leadership and management of the councils’ approach to information technology and its delivery of high quality systems and support. This includes leading work to maximize the value of the councils’ ICT assets and systems, by improving efficiency, working in partnership and by offering the best possible service to its users. Day to day, the postholder is responsible for ensuring targets are set; met and monitored and that team members are supported in attaining high levels of performance. The IT Team manager reports to the IT, Systems & Corporate Project Manager who will support you on your quest to offer an excellent, cost effective and passionate IT service to the Council and its stakeholders. The role will be focused on supporting the IT Team Council with its obligations from its IT Strategy, ensuring the Council’s network, systems and devices are consistently working, being maintained, secure and updated where applicable. You will work in partnership with the Councils IT Security Manager to ensure risks, safety and cyber threats are considered, evaluated, mitigated and monitored to ensure a safe IT Infrastructure and working practices for IT and its users. You will work with project staff on delivering a key project for the Council which is to move our head office to a new location. You will work alongside other IT professionals, where you will have the opportunity to set up new offices, its networking elements and moving a server room. You will then help scope, plan and transition the Council (from a networking and IT perspective) to its new offices. The Council is an agile workplace and there will be opportunity for home/agile working with this role. The role will be heavily office based at the beginning during the induction period where you will be able to learn and develop your understanding of the Infrastructure, build rapport with colleagues and begin to understand the service expectations, however you will move to a more suitable home and office blend thereafter.
