This page contains information regarding the opportunities available for work experience and apprenticeships within Oadby and Wigston Borough Council.
In 2013 the Council introduced an Apprenticeship Scheme to provide opportunities for both existing staff and local people, to develop through apprenticeships. Not only do apprentices assist the workforce, they add value and build the skill levels of the wider community.
Apprenticeships combine a mix of work-based training and education. They aim to give you the opportunity to:
- Achieve vocational, work-based qualifications
- Learn practical job skills and knowledge which are related to your specific work role
- Progress within specific careers and educational pathways
If you interested in becoming an apprentice for the Council, we recommend that you regsiter with a local college beforehand. Our apprentice vacancies are advertised through local colleges on an ad-hoc basis and would therefore suggest that you contact our Human Resources team using the contact details to the left of this page.
The Council recognises the offer of high quality work experience as a positive opportunity to contribute to the local community. Work experience provides an opportunity for students to consolidate work based learning skills and to help them to make an informed career choice. It is a voluntary unpaid activity and any person undertaking work experience with us will not be considered an employee.
If you are interested in undertaking a work experience placement with us, please contact our Human Resources team using the contact details to the side of the page.
