Free School meals

Depending on your circumstances, your child/children may be eligible for free school meals. This scheme is administered by Leicestershire County Council and you can find more information and apply online.

The Pupil Premium grant is funding to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in state-funded schools in England. More information is available on the Government website.

Free childcare and child benefit

You may be eligible to receive child benefit or up to 30 hours of free childcare a week, depending on your personal circumstances. Check what you might be entitled to online.

Community fridge

We're fortunuate to have four community fridges in Leicestershire, including one in Wigston. The fridges are open to anyone and result from partnership working with various supermarkets and good businesses. Lots more information is available on the Less Waste webpage.

Food banks

Food banks are grassroots, community organisations aimed at supporting people who cannot afford the essentials in life. The Trussel Trust has a helpful website which helps you to locate your nearest foodbank.

Leicestershire Lightbulb service

The Lightbulb service helps support the residents of Leicestershire to remain safe and well in their own homes. Lightbulb brings together, a range of support such as aids and adaptations, energy advice, home safety, home improvements and support with the transition from hospital to home.
