Local Plan

On Tuesday 16 April 2019, Oadby and Wigston Borough Council resolved to adopt the new Local Plan Development Plan Document (Plan) at its Full Council meeting.

The Plan is the Council’s principal planning policy document and sets out the Vision, Spatial Objectives, Spatial Strategy and Planning Policies for development for the entire Borough area, for the period up to 2031. The Plan replaces the Council’s Saved Local Plan, Town Centres Area Action Plan and Core Strategy.

In addition to the adoption of the new Local Plan, the Council has also resolved to adopt a number of Supplementary Planning Documents, as well as its revised Statement of Community Involvement.

Oadby and Wigston Local Plan Pre-Submission (2011 - 2031) - Public Consultation

The Borough Council has held a public consultation on the Pre-Submission Local Plan between Monday, 6 November 2017 and 5 pm on Monday, 18 December 2017 (six weeks). That version of the Local Plan was effectively a final draft and, therefore, contained the Council’s preferred approach to tackling the key challenges whilst delivering sustainable development for the Borough up to 2031.

Local Plan Preferred Options Consultation

Public consultation on the Local Plan Preferred Options Document and its associated Sustainability Appraisal and Habitat Regulations Assessment took place between November and December 2016. The Council has taken account of the representations received and has fed the outcomes of this into the Local Plan Pre-Submission Document, which is being consulted on between November 2017 and December 2017.

Local Plan Key Challenges Consultation

Public consultation on the Local Plan Key Challenges Document took place between October and November 2015. The Council is now taking account of the representations received and will be feeding the outcomes of this into the Local Plan Preferred Options (Regulation 18) Document, which is due to be consulted on during November and December 2016.
